A Voice for Citizens of Hillsdale County

Hillsdale County commissioners have decided to move forward with using the limited county credit to back a $15.5 million dollar, 20-year bond to fund a new facility for LifeWays, an independent organization that operates within but does not answer to the county. This unnecessary and substantial risk recently passed by a 3-2 vote, despite massive vocal public opposition. This could be a disaster for our county.

Access to mental health care is a crucial service and are not in danger without the bond. With all the risk and no additional benefits on the part of the county, it is clear that this measure is NOT in the best interests of the taxpayers and deserves to be voted on by those who will bear the financial burden.

Who are Citizens for Hillsdale County?

We are a grassroots group of Hillsdale County residents who want a bright future for our county. We believe our already-limited county resources should be safeguarded against unnecessary risk. The funds should be used as intended, for public safety, county roads, and parks.  We are organizing a petition drive to get this measure on the ballot so that the voices of all Hillsdale County voters can be heard.
